Deutche Bank Says Sell EUR/USD, EUR/JPY
Deutsche Bank's global head of FX strategy Bilal Hafeez sees euro weakness ahead in 07, with EUR/USD sliding to 1.20/1.25. Says euro is overvalued in terms of purchasing power. Argues for a "negative surprise" in euro-area economic growth in 07, because of higher taxes, strong exchange rate and impact of US slowdown.

Tor BB 14:00.. gold poking at the 6 month range highs.. dailies above 655 could see 670, but it could also turn on a dime under the prevailing market dynamics.. meanwhile, specs are net long & fishes are shouting "break-out"!still looking for the Yen crosses to inject more life across the board for Goldbugs, Europhiles, Yenophobes, & Fxjunkies..

Yenophobes fight back after EURJPY reached 155.70/80 except those holding NZDJPY. They grab any chances of a little up-tick to square their short of JPY. The unwinding of carry trade is not yet over. GL and GT.

Strong Cross/JPY selling - unwinding of the popular JPY carry trades going through as we move into Europe,
EUR/JPY stoploss hit below 158.00/ 157.50 after a very volatile section that saw EUR/JPY hitting new all time highs of 158.59, after taking out the 158.50 triggers, only to be sold down to 157.33 longs as funds liquidate Cross/JPY on JPY carry trades unwinding.

GPBUSD walking a difficult road. Failure to sustain 1.9850 on a daily and weekly basis this Friday may signal end of the road for the brave cable cheerleeders. For me, taking ito account the overextended and overvalued gbp crosses which are at or have surpassed major previous multiyear resistances, selling cable and holding previous sells form lower levels seems the logical way to go. Also, gbp and its crosses seem to have hard times during the end of january -march part of the year. And if one checks the monthly gbp crosses charts, it shows that if january is trendy, february usually trends in the opposite direction. To conclude, selling gbp in the 1,98-2,0000 box is good for 10-15 big figures, time schedule end of February or mid March, the risk being not more than 2-3 figures above. Pretty nice setup indeed. AIMVHO. Good trading all!

Gecko, I thanked for your view on gold and the carry elaboration. However, would like to know why we should not be afraid of Chinese massive buying? Won't that be horrible if one is squeezed for 50-60 bugs up before massive down happens?

1. after consolidation,euro goes up..
2 80% fish long usd..
yesterday i said david vs goliath, and it keeps on the same way , cb +smart money buy euro , specs sell it in force , has been going on for a week now..outcome generally ends up against specs, in real life goliath wins.
3-as i've been saying for weeks, cb's still need to get out of us$ into other currencies(euro, gbp, and probably other smaller crosses will be supported)...Nothing as changed fundamentally to support US$ really with further gains but profit taking from smart money done at the start of the year.
4-Chart wise only above 1.3030 today will euro be a good buy for 1.34..(gbp still strong buy for 2.0 as said week ago).
we will see where it closes today , though there hasn't been a strong dollar down friday since the start of the year..Full moon is always good for trend changes , today looks like a good day.

"08:28 GMT April 5, 2006
..
Eur/Chf & Gbp/Chf track each other's direction in a lead/lag fashion with good correlations.. while both cross had been consolidating in a narrow range over the past year, Eur/Chf had recently broke out of its range & now poking at the 2004 high of 1.58 (which corresponds to the old Gbp/Chf 2.39 high) with good odds for the 1.60's.. imo the old Gbp/Chf 2.40/39 m/t target is reasonable once it follow its cousin up & push its master Usd/Chf into orbit.. fwiww

any opinions on USD/CAD, will this break 118?

Cannes Oil man 11:51 GMT January 11, 2007
I see $/CAD still going DOWN..It's been trying to do so for awhile now, with enormous pressure building up on the downside stops..
The moment it does it will be fast and furious.
If however e$ does not find the bottom today, chances are high that it stays relatively stable (like in the past few days).

FW CS 05:17 GMT January 6.. don't know if we have seen a long term Euro top made last week.. but after last week's failure from secondary highs, Euro & GBP is painting classic Monthly Reversal patterns from the December 1.3364 & 1.9846 highs..
There's good historical odds for mid to long term corrections after monthly rejections from Euro 1.30 & GBP 1.92 +/- bands..
Monthly Reverse Fractals
